[Vanitas doesn't know how to handle being treated kindly. He's far too used to the opposite. But there's a genuine vibe that Oushi has that he finds himself enjoying deep, deep, deep down. Maybe he's a little nervous to admit something like that openly.]

[ things got a little too heavy right off the bat, so oushi actually takes the time to try and think of a dare that would help lighten things up a little. not in any hopes of sweeping any of this under the rug or anything, but just because he thinks they might both benefit from a little reprieve here. ]

[A very good idea. Vanitas can be a little bit petty. But he's behaving, not thinking about revenge while he's focused on the dare. It doesn't take too long to get the lemon (perks of living in a giant resort), and is on his way back to his room.]

Tell me about the best and worst thing you've ever done.

[ there is a slight delay before oushi's answer. by now, he's had more than enough time to mull over the past few years of his life, his choices. his time away from everything had only served to grant him greater perspective... and while he has more or less been humbled by the fact his life is so small, so much less spectacular than everyone else's, he knows that that hardly means his actions mean any less to the people around him.

one day, he'll be able to apologize to her properly. ]

[Vanitas has a hard time believing that this version of Oushi that he knows--not very well, obviously-- could ever not treat someone well. Especially a girl. It's hard to build up a reality in his mind to fit the situation where Oushi has been cautious, and considerate to him. Well, until Vanitas finds various ways to ruin those moments, anyway.

I feel less bad being mean to you.
I'm going to be your karma and your reckoning incarnate.

[Vanitas takes it upon himself to be the one to make this man's life difficult from this moment on. He doesn't have to words or the ability to express that he really just likes Oushi as a person and Vanitas likes being around him and talking to him even if it's just in the form of antagonizing the guy.]

[ now, see, being told something like that should bother him... maybe even rattle him... oushi believes in karma, to an extent, and while he definitely thinks he's deserving of some trials and tribulations for how shitty he was to yuki, being told that by someone else is an entirely different thing. and there's a part of him, the part that defaults to being contrary, that wants to protest out of principle...



but honestly? he can think of worse comeuppances. ]

Someone who may not ask too many questions.. someone who has likely seen and lived through a lot and won't think too deeply. He finds his victim and sends the video. And another one to Oushi as evidence that he's actually doing it.]

[He can't help that he notices things quickly, and definitely can't help that Oushi doesn't seem to be very good at hiding his emotions.]

[Vanitas doesn't know the context, but learning sign language must mean that the girl was either deaf or mute, and to go through that Vanitas suspects he must have feelings for her. And if that's the case, then Oushi's assholed-ness must have been accidental.

His first impressions of people aren't usually wrong, and Vanitas still thinks that Oushi doesn't have an intentionally cruel bone in his body. But accidentally cruel? He's seen it with his own two eyes already.]

What is wrong with you. I can't do that. I'm not cute, you fool. [He's more caught up on how uncute he is than what a strange request it is.] Give me an example.

[Oushi has already seen him naked, so the easy thing is out of the question. Vanitas eventually gets over himself, resignation on his face as he starts to record himself.

From the depths of his soul, he draws upon the strength of his late mother and her mother before her so their acting expertise might reach his living body, and barks (cute and high pitched) like a tiny dog trying to overcompensate for its size. Vanitas sends it before he loses his nerve.]

[ ......oh what the fuck. why's that so much cuter than he thought it'd be? he needs to be wiser about his dares, this is getting dangerous...

now, oushi is fortunately not dense enough to push his luck, and thus will answer with a short: ]

[ for one thing: why the hell would he? vanitas made this for him and him alone — alright it was a dare, but whatever — and it's so cute that oushi definitely isn't going to be stupid enough to share it with anyone else.

for another: well. he would really rather not be strangled in his sleep. he's not sure how vanitas would manage it, but he has 100% faith that he could. ]

[ he is being SO SMART AND STRATEGIC right now because he realizes if he went with truth, vanitas might ask him why he asked for that... or something.... ]

[He hates this so much, but at least Vanitas has a shot at revenge whether Oushi picks truth or dare.]

[He's bad at modern vocabulary still, but he's working on it. As long as it gets deleted or rendered unable to send to anyone else, Vanitas can sleep soundly at night.]

To appease Oushi at least a little bit, he sends something else once he has confirmation of the original's deletion. It's a short video of Vanitas with a smug grin on his face winking.]

[For this one he's going to assume Oushi means good dreams and not nightmares. It's better for everyone that way.]

I have this one dream where I'm in the middle of Paris on a busy weekend. After eating a nice brunch, I stand up from the table at my favorite restaurant, and then realize I don't have pants on.

I wonder what it means.
