Hi. We haven't met yet—I'm Zagreus and I'm new to the resort. I was dared by someone to send an erotic photo of myself to a few people, and to avoid sending you something unsolicited right out the gate, I thought I'd check to see if it was welcome first.
I'm aware, yes, and I know I can refuse. I guess you could say it's a point of pride, since I was the one who picked it first when the choice was offered. But I'm fine with it, I just wanted to make sure you were, too.
[ damn... so this person had that kind of integrity???
hhhhhhhhhhhhauuughhhoughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhfine
oushi figures if someone's gonna send nudes all willy-nilly (pun not intended) there's least harm in sending it to someone like oushi, who will have the decency to instantly delete it. #logic ]
( a small package is delivered to oushi's room by some npc idk man. inside is a sweatsuit and black boxing tape. there's also a note written in sharp, somewhat elegant scrawl, )
[ by virtue of it being hand-delivered by a member of the hotel staff, oushi doesn't trust it from the start. the only thing that has him beginning to consider opening the package is the staff's insistence it is from another guest. he winds up sitting with the package on the foot of his bed for a little over an hour, before curiosity finally gets the better of him and he tears into the paper.
the sweatsuit is... nice. a decent dark green that he could easily see himself wearing on his own, made of a soft cotton that doesn't feel cheap at all. were it not for the boxing tape, he might not have been able to even clock who it could've been from, since the note itself had no name attached to it.
now, this would be the time any normal person would have sent over a quick thank you. ]
if you're gonna tease me you should do it to my face
[ ... is this a sneaky way just to see vanitas? maybe. does he think the other guy may not feel so bold if this was in person? ... no, so it's definitely the first thing. ]
Oushi-kun, I'd like to ask you some questions about your preferences, if that's all right with you. Things like your favorite color and preferred drinks and so on.
Oh! No... although now that you mention it, that is quite similar to what Nei-san did a few weeks ago, isn't it. Would you rather I just read what you wrote to her?
[Natori has been stuck with this mask on his face for a few days now, and while he has a good sense of what causes each of the eyes to open, they've all been excruciating experiences-- finding people he's familiar with in the wild, trying to find something to disclose that is enough to satisfy the mask without just spilling his heart out in the middle of the hotel for all the ayakashi to hear. Instead, he's going to be purposeful about this; sitting cross-legged on his bed surrounded by his wards might not make a difference in terms of vulnerability, but it does make him feel more secure. So does the distance of text. And... Oushi reminds him of Natsume more than he ought to, given how different their circumstances are. If he's going to take the initiative in reaching out, Oushi makes the most sense as a recipient.]
Oushi-kun, I want to try something. Will you help me? You just need to listen.
[ On Christmas morning, Oushi will find delivered to his suite (or directly into his hands, depending on where he is in the resort) a gift box from Keita. It's wrapped in green paper nearly the same color as Oushi's eyes, and tied with white ribbon, under which is tucked a card to make sure Oushi knows who it's from.
Inside is a bottle of good sake, a month's supply of a lychee-flavored energy snack (for the days that Oushi is skedaddling between his various part-time jobs), and underneath it all a warm, soft, oddly fashionable sweatshirt in a style Keita thinks Oushi will like. Not to say that Keita is much of a fashionista, but he does pay close attention.
The attached card reads, ]
Although it would be wrong of me to say I'm glad you're here, I will say that meeting you has made this place immensely more bearable. I'm delighted to be your friend, Oushi-kun.
I hope you stay warm and take good care of yourself.
[On the morning of the first, a homemade postcard on high quality paper slides itself under Oushi's door. On the front is a piece of highly stylized calligraphy. On the back, in more standard but still extremely nice handwriting:]
Happy New Year!
Thank you for all your support last year. I look forward to working together again in the future. Wishing you good health.
Natori
[Oushi can probably tell that Natori's calling this the year of the dog. Happy 2006!]
