[ there would be an odd sense of accomplishment in oushi, were he to know that keita would be accutely aware of his butt around him... pls don't ask me to elaborate. ]
I built his predecessor, Katsu, merely to prove that I could. I suppose that was the original function, but now... I suppose his main purpose is to be entertaining. Well, entertaining to me, at least.
[ maybe oushi is just projecting here, but he notices that response isn't exactly a, "no, i am no longer lonely." it saddens him to think so, but simultaneously he feels a little relieved. because then he wouldn't have to feel so bad not necessarily giving an answer in return.
it's hard to feel lonely in a place like this. and, certainly, he's got a good number of people here who he would consider good friends, and kind people. but.
maybe growing up is learning that loneliness can come in many different flavors. ]
i got a fish from that festival a month or so ago one of these days, i'll bring her over and she and feiyu can meet
[ A little loneliness, Keita thinks, is perhaps the price of being the kind of creature he is. Impossible to avoid when you're born remembering the deaths of everyone you've ever cared for. ]
I would like that very much. I don't know that Feiyu has ever encountered a live fish before, though, so do keep an eye on her in case he gets overly curious...
Hmm. I don't see why not, if someone wanted to? Although it may be up to them to make the suggestion, I'm afraid I lack imagination when it comes to gestures like that...
It depends on their other interests. I've built fireflies and dragonflies before... music boxes, flowers, birds... cuckoo clocks. A pair of cufflinks, recently, although of course those only work if the recipient is inclined to wear shirtsleeves, which so many here aren't. Would they prefer something functional or something aesthetically lovely?
i think... they wouldn't really care what it was or what it did so long as it was something that reminded you of that person, whenever you looked at it
[ It's only now, reading this text, that it finally clicks in Keita's mind that Oushi is talking about the pair of them, him and Oushi. :0, and then :D, goes his expression. ]
I see... Well, in that case I'll have to have a proper think on it, but perhaps that person ought to expect an invitation to my workshop in a week's time or so to see whether they approve of my ideas.
keita.

do you consider feiyu to have a function?

did you build him here just because you were bored?
or were you lonely too?

...I was terribly lonely. When I built Katsu as well, for that matter. I needed to keep my mind busy.

i hope you aren't lonely anymore, mori-san.
