i think with someone like rin, you kind of have to force it she keeps her distance because she has all these things she wants to focus on and puts a lot of pressure on herself to get them done, even if it comes at her own expense so if you really care about her enough to want to be her friend you just have to keep trying even despite all the times she tries to prevent it
