there's an area here called the vale nice, open forest area
[ he figures something like that might be more familiar to someone of henry's era, and thus more comfortable for the man. ]
you can probably ask the staff around you'll know you're there when you see some giant double doors
[ oushi, meanwhile, will make his way there as swiftly as he can. whether or not henry will actually find his way without issue is... a toss-up, so he makes sure to keep checking his watch every now and then to make sure he doesn't miss the other man reaching out if there are any issues. in the meantime, he'll find a nice area that's easy enough to spot from the entrance, but far enough away that they'll still be afforded some privacy. he plops himself onto a sizeable boulder among the grass, and only then realizes maybe he should also let the guy know what he looks like...?
hm. but would sending a selfie right now startle the guy too much, or. ]
[ a nice open forest area sounds very nice. and he probably does get a little lost along the way but he refuses to message and ask for help. mainly because he's tired of asking for help but also because he has not warmed up to the idea of sending messages like that yet.
he does pop up eventually, though may or may not be squinting in Oushi's direction. the extra convenient thing about not knowing what to look for is that he's never seen an Asian person in his life.................. help
but also there's probably not many people around. so he lifts an arm in greeting. if nothing else he just said hi to a random guy. ]
[ it is pure luck on their sides that the vale is relatively empty... meaning when henry makes his appearance, oushi notices almost instantly. he's up on his feet, returning the wave with one of his own. as henry nears, he might notice a dusting of small, red, heart-shaped freckles bloom across oushi's cheeks and over the bridge of his nose... don't worry about it. ]
Hey, Henry...? Did you find your way okay?
[ ah, right, he should introduce himself. is shaking hands a thing for him? oushi offers his anyway, just in case. ]
[ Henry looks relieved to have apparently found the right person. quite frankly he's getting really tired of not doing anything right. He smiles broadly as he closes the distance more between them. if he notices the hearts (and he does), he doesn't say anything at the moment. he's already met a guy who can turn into fire, and a heart is one of the markings he got when he showed up here too.
maybe this will all end up being a dream. that's the only thing that makes any of this okay. ]
That's me, I'm Henry.
[ he stops and looks down at Oushi's hand. this is something a lady usually offers to a man but ... after a moment, he just takes it. and doesn't shake it. he kind of bows a little though. maybe Oushi is a prince, like hell if Henry knows. ]
Pleased to meet you, Ou-shi.
[ he's typically not good at pronouncing things the first time, it's fine... ]
[ oushi realizes his mistake the second henry regards his hand with a pause. he very nearly takes it back, but by then henry has already grasped it, and thus he is left to awkwardly blush at the gesture and just hope it's not the sort of impression that will stick. at least henry didn't kiss his hand; small mercies do in fact exist. ]
Close enough, [ he says, by way of encouragement. he gestures around them. ]
There aren't a lot of formal sitting spots in the Vale, not without some walking. D'you care if we just sit on some rocks?
[ He huffs softly at the "close enough", not sure if it just adds to the frustration of never knowing what's going on or if he should just be glad he didn't make a completely dunce of himself just now.
Before he has a chance to respond much more about that though, he lets out a laugh at the question. ]
No, I don't care if we sit on some rocks.
[ he'd straight up sit on the ground if they had no other option. he is, after all, just a peasant lad. ]
Is that unusual in your world? I spend a lot of time outdoors and in camps or the woods, so don't worry about me.
[ despite henry's easy acquiescence, there is still a hint of hesitation in oushi's actions as he slowly lowers himself back down on the boulder he'd been previously perched on. it's wide enough that henry could feasibly sit beside him on it — and, certainly, oushi takes care to shift to the side just enough that he wordlessly makes that offer — but given the other man's... breadth, it would be a snug fit. is it a little diabolical of oushi to leave it entirely up to the other man to make the choice for himself? yes, yes it is. ]
Not really unusual, [ he shrugs one shoulder, ] I just didn't really think it through... It feels like it would've been more polite to take you somewhere more comfortable?
[ but "comfort" is apparently quite subjective, especially if these type of environments were far more familiar to henry than, say, a cushioned bench. oushi's glad his presumptions were right. ]
Do you want to start? Show me your watch, and I'll show you where the settings are.
[ Oushi should remember that he did this, he's responsible for this. because how is Henry supposed to learn anything about these stupid watches if he can't see what he's being taught? so he does just sort of ... plop down next to him on the rock.
it's a little weird he thinks, but not weird enough to comment on, so he just laughs. ]
Well that's very kind of you, sir. I really am alright.
[ there is one thing that IS weird enough to comment on though, and as he pulls out his watch, he ventures: ]
Those hearts on your face ... is that really the mark they gave you? [ Henry has a pretty simple spade on top of his left hand, below the junction of thumb and index. A heart is on the opposite. all he knows is that everyone's got something. sorry, pal. ]
