let's meet at the front that way we can walk in together
[ whether or not it's actually accurate, oushi has noticed that some places here tend to look upon customers more favorably when they're in obvious pairs.
as soon as the twenty minutes are up, oushi hightails it towards the gilded cage. it's a far fancier place than he's used to, but the bottom half of his uniform (a pair of black slacks) make for a pretty acceptable look. it even looks like he's got a collar and bowtie on, however majority of what he's wearing on top gets swallowed up by the large zip-up sweatshirt he's got on that definitely isn't "fine dining" wear. ah, right, and there are those heart freckles that show up the second he spots yato. ]
[Given how this place works, it's entirely possible that's the case. Yato wouldn't put it past the proprietors.
For his part, Yato's managed to scrounge up a decently unrevealing casual suit; no tie or vest, but a dress shirt and decent slacks with some shiny shoes to complete the ensemble. Upon spotting Oushi, he gives a friendly if eager wave, excitement bubbling over. Though he does have to do a double-take at the freckles to be sure he isn't imagining things. They get a faint smile, though for now he says nothing about them.]
[ despite saying that, he actually waits to make sure they both head in together. a hostess greets them, because that's just the kind of fancy place the gilded cage is, and though she might give oushi's outfit a brief, disapproving look, she doesn't hesitate to seat them.
she takes them to a cozy little booth towards the side, closer to the kitchen. a waiter floats by not too long after to take their drink orders and leave them with a menu, and it's not until they're fully left alone that oushi turns to yato, expression searching. ]
[Clearly excited by the prospect of their date, Yato stays by Oushi's side so there's no mix-up about them being together, a bright smile plastered on his face. If he notices the looks of disapproval shot their way, he gives no indication as much.
While his attention first goes to the menu out of curiosity's sake, Yato directs his attention back to his companion once Oushi inquires about him being a god. Normally he's not super polite, but he does like to show some basic courtesy.]
Well, most of us are born from human wishes for starters. Typically it takes the collective efforts of many, many people to create a god. From there a god obtains shinki - or divine instruments - who are the souls of deceased humans, to act as their guides, companions, and weapons. Together they work to rid the world of things like ayakashi, which are spirits that prey on the weakness in human hearts.
Like for me, my shinki is named Yukine! He's fourteen and a pain in my ass since he teaches me all sorts of things, about humanity and how to become a God of Fortune like I want.
[ he quiets at that, his gaze lingering a little longer on yato as his mind slowly turns this information over. ]
It makes sense then, [ he suddenly announces, after what might feel like a little too long of a delay. he sits up, folding his arms over the table and leaning into them. this time, when he looks at yato again, there is a sharpness to his green eyes. ]
Why you focus so much on what you can provide people, [ he clarifies. yes, bringing their entire conversation over the network back into this. full circle! ] You want to remember you, or keep thinking about you, so you focus on what you can do for them, because that's the best way to make sure you're always in their minds. Right?
yato.
well don't force it
otherwise it'd be just as weird
when do you want to do this, anyway?

are you free now? I'm cool with whenever!
no subject
does that work for you?
[ though... shouldn't he take some time to go home, shower and all that? if they're going to be going to the gilded cage and all. ]

[Possibly, although Yato's not super finicky about matters like that. He's used to having to live rough.]
