[ SORRRRRRRYYYY. HE JUST HAS POOR IMPULSE CONTROL. He does have the grace to look a little sheepish as Oushi stares at him before preparing himself for the game. And then off they go!
Ryuji doesn't remember the rules of the game either, except for the fact that if you kiss you lose? Something like that? But then Oushi is biting the pocky pretty aggressively and Ryuji is left flummoxed. Oh shit, he better get to it.
So, he bites it as well, pressing forward to nip at the pocky as Oushi does, which doesn't really work and during one of their shared bites the pocky just kind of... falls between them, down to the bench, leaving them pockyless. ]
[ oushi, too, is left staring at the broken biscuit, laying rather pathetically on the bench like some kind of impotent spin-the-bottle. that definitely isn't the outcome they were meant to aim for... though admittedly now oushi has to wonder what constitutes as a "complete" dare anyway.
reaching up, he scrubs a hand over the short hairs at the back of his head. ]
Yeah, we're... supposed to use our lips more. I guess.
[ imagine failing at a middle school game... embarrassing tbh.
resolving to be a little more chill, he digs into the packet for another stick, placing it between his teeth. but this time, when he leans forward and takes his first bite, he takes care to keep his lips pressed firmly around the biscuit, so it stays up. ]
[ Okay. Use your lips more. He can do that? He can do that! So as Oushi puts the pocket between his lips again, Ryuji leans forward to take the other end and will navigate taking more and more small bites as they go for it together.
Which means, of course, Ryuji isn't paying much attention to how close he is to Oushi as they eat the pocky until, after one particularly close bite, his lips are basically touching Oushi's. He freezes then, going pink in the cheeks and looks back at the other boy.
Ahhh... do they kiss?? Are they supposed to kiss now?? ]
[ they... they do whatever they want to do, honestly. the game in and of itself has always been a pretty silly one — just an immature or cheap way to kiss someone one wouldn't have the courage to kiss any other way — and the game that brought that game on is even sillier. truth and dare as some kind of ice breaker in a hotel that requires its guests to regularly engage in debauchery and deviance feels almost patronizing. and as far as oushi has seen, there have been two approaches to it thus far: you either go the coward's route, like oushi, and play it safe. keep the truths tame and stay far, far away from the dares.
or you take the route that doesn't beat around the bush, and just fucking go for it.
are they supposed to kiss? no, not really. they aren't supposed to do anything, but play the game, and technically they've done everything they needed to do to accomplish both directives. technically, they're done.
but ryuji is looking up at him with big, wide eyes and oushi feels a flutter of something that tastes a lot like ire bubble up in the back of his throat — but it's not towards ryuji. very likely, it's towards himself. what's he so scared of, anyway? it's just a kiss.
so, yeah, oushi just goes for it. rolls his eyes, reaches up to grasp the back of ryuji's head, and holds the boy steady as he leans the rest of the way in. it's a rough, clumsy kiss. equal parts lips and chocolate biscuit, but oushi bites and swallows back the last of what's on his end before pressing for another, more proper kiss.
and then he's leaning back, just as flushed in the face, but feeling a little more accomplished for it all. it's just a kiss. but somehow, it feels a little like he proved something to himself, too. ]
[ Ryuji is unaware of the journey Oushi went on to initiate that kiss but he receives it all the same, a soft little noise of surprise escaping him when Oushi grasps his head and presses in close to kiss. He's going to reply to it earnestly though, letting his half of the cookie tuck away into his mouth and kiss back in turn. When the kiss breaks, he chews the rest of the pocky stick down before — ah! Another kiss. A proper kiss.
He makes a pleased noise into it, fingers reaching out to grasp the front of Oushi's shirt as he leans forward on the bench to kiss Oushi, to deepen it. And then it's done, far too soon, leaving Ryuji flushed and happy all over.
So, he grins, a little lopsided, in response to Oushi's words and nods his head. ]
Yeah, I can accept that loss.
[ He laughs, a little breathless and his smile widens, looking delighted. ]

Oh.
[ He just stares at the pocky for a bit. ]
I think we did it wrong?
